The company, directed by prima ballerina Viengsay Valdes, will perform Act II of «Swan Lake, » in a choreographic version by Alicia Alonso based on the original by Lev Ivanov and music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The Alicia Alonso Gran Teatro in Havana hosts the last of 2020’s shows, during which the audience could also appreciate «The Rose Adagio» and «Blue Bird» Pas de Deux, both from the ballet piece «Sleeping Beauty of the Forest.»
The BNC dancers will also perform «Celeste,» a contemporary piece by Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and will close the program with the pas de deux and a coda of «Theme and Variations,» composed by Russian George Balanchine in 1940 for Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.
The leading roles will be assumed by Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Grettel Morejon, Claudia Garcia, Dani Hernandez, Rafael Quenedit and Adrian Sanchez, supported by the company’s corps de ballet.
