The victims include women and children, who died as a result of fighting, from explosives and air strikes, sources from the UN Support Mission in this North African country said.
A report on the impact of the war on the population indicated that more than 250 citizens suffered injuries during the period, an increase of 276 percent from the first quarter.
According to the document, most of the victims were located in the western Libyan region, the scene of fighting between Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s militias and the forces of the UN-backed government.
The UN Mission said it documented 85 non-combatant deaths and more than 230 wounded in western Libya, 89 percent of the total civilian casualties.
This country suffers from a warlike conflict, since in 2011 countries of the North Atlantic NATO Treaty Organization and Arab allies overthrew the leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was assassinated and currently that conflict was transformed into an international armed confrontation.
The war – an obvious power struggle in this North African oil state – keeps Libya divided between two government authorities, one based in this capital and the other in the eastern city of Tobruk.
