South Korean military expenditure of 35 billion dollars over a decade

Seoul, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) The average military expenditure in South Korea was 35 billion dollars from 2007 to 2017, the media revealed today.

According to Yonhap official news agency, which cited a report by the US Department of State, this figure represents 2.6 percent of South Korea’s GDP.

According to the same report, the United States ranked first in the world in terms of military expenditure, at an average of 741 billion dollars per year.

Washington was also the leading arms exporter of the world, earning 143 billion dollars in those ten years, the source reported.

Seoul’s military expenditure was almost ten times higher than that of the neighboring Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), which reached only 3.6 billion dollars, according to the US report.
