At the conclusion of the Sunday prayer of the Angelus, the Supreme Pontiff pointed out that everyone will be able to «participate spiritually through the media» in the event which will take place without the presence of the public in St. Peter’s Square, because of the restrictions dealing with the spread of Covid-19.
In this sense, he added that «we will listen to the Word of God, we will raise our supplication, we will adore the Blessed Sacrament with which, at the end, I will give the Urbi et Orbi Blessing (of the city to the world), to which will be added the possibility of receiving the plenary indulgence».
This exhortation of Francisco, and another from that court which he called for two days before, are related to the emergency situation caused by the spread of the new coronavirus, a pandemic to which he called for a response «with universality of prayer, compassion and tenderness.
«Let us stand together. Let us make our closeness to the loneliest and most tried people heard» said the Pope, who referred to the doctors, health workers, nurses, volunteers, authorities, police and soldiers directly involved in the management of the emergency.
