According to the aviation industry, associated with the Dutch KLM, around 6,500 jobs will go at Air France and a further 1,000 at its Hop regional subsidiary, out of roughly 41,000 full-time equivalent jobs overall, in response to the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This month, several media reported Air France’s intention to close between 8,000 and 10,000 posts, but the final figures will be known on Friday, when the French company announces its adjustment plan.
The unions warned that Air France would begin cutting jobs in early 2021, after negotiating with workers and representatives.
In detail, the French airline would dismiss 330 pilots, nearly 290 flight attendants and chief flight attendants, and about 405 ground staff member just in Hop, and 430 pilots, 1,560 flight attendants, chief flight attendants, and 4,500 ground workers.
