More than 828,000 cases of Covid-19 detected in Africa

Addis Abeba, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) The number of Covid-19 infections diagnosed in Africa has risen to more than 828,000, according to a report by the continent's Center for Disease Control and Prevention, released Monday in the capital.

From just over 810,000, the total number of confirmed cases in the region grew to 828,214 in just 24 hours, which demonstrates the rapid spread of the coronavirus that causes the disease, says the update on the infection.

On the other hand, the Center reported that 484,38 patients overcame the disease, while the number of deaths increased to 17,509.

Southern Africa, it reported, is the most affected region, followed by the northern, western, eastern and central territories, in that order.

South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria and Morocco, it notes, are the nations with the highest number of infected.
