The tribute was paid in the Mausoleum of the Third Front, historic place where Almeida’s remains rests along with many of his guerrilla struggle’s companions, Cuban television reported. In front of the niche of the outstanding combatant a floral wreath was also laid representing the people of Cuba.
Authorities of Cuba’s Communist Party and the Popular Power in Sierra Maestra territory, in the eastern province of Santiago of Cuba, alongside fighters of the Revolution and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, led the ceremony attended by a Cuban society representation.
A long line of men and women came to lay flowers as expression of loyalty and respect to the founder of the Third Front
guerrilla on March 6, 1958, the report disclosed.
