It emphasizes that the hotel was inaugurated in 1990 by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the Melia president, Gabriel Escarrer.

Many are the awards, prizes and recognitions received by the management and workers of the hotel, among them that of maintaining the condition of National Vanguard of the Workers Union of the Hotel trade and Tourism.
Furthermore, it is one of the facilities that generates the highest income in the world-famous destination.
