The two presidents reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen the Russian-Belorussian alliance and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, according to the presidential press service.
During the talk, Putin warmly congratulated Lukashenko on his birthday.
Putin and Lukashenko agreed to meet in Moscow in the coming weeks, the presidency said.
The Belarusian opposition tried on Sunday a new provocation with a protest in the area of the Independence Square in Minsk, where the forces of public order had to arrest a number of participants in an illegal action, as the authorities of Belarus claim.
Lukashenko was re-elected with 80.1 percent of the votes in the presidential elections of August 9th, well above the 10,12 points obtained by Svetlana Tijanovskaya, of the opposition.
However, the opposition ignored the results of the elections and began violent protests with provocations against the police and threats of assault on state institutions, for which the Belarusian government arrested hundreds of people involved in those acts.
