Dr. Evelyn Martinez, deputy director of MINSAP International Relations, said during a virtual forum of solidarity with Cuba that the US blockade has caused $160,260,880 losses in health sector from April 2019 to March 2020.
Dr. Evelyn Martinez added that in the nearly 60 years of blockade, the figures amounted to over 3.7 billion dollars.
Despite the great number of sanctions imposed by these unilateral measures, Cuba holds its global and free health system, Dr. Evelyn Martinez said, even amid the Covid-19 pandemic, when sanctions are being tightened.
Cuba is forced to go to distant markets, with the consequent increased cost and delay, in addition to suffering the refusal to accept its bank transactions and sanctions to shipping companies, among other actions.
