The recent meeting of the government group to confront the health emergency, chaired by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, made emphasis on the urgency to comply with such measures, especially by those who return from abroad and their relatives.
At the meeting, held in Havana, Public Health Minister Jose Angel Portal said that most imported cases come from the United States, as it is the major traveler-sending country, although it also involves travelers from Mexico, Panama, Haiti and Spain.
According to local television, Havana, where the majority of travelers arrive, is threatened again by the pandemic with more than 300 active cases.
During the meeting, the group also reviewed the situation in the western provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque, whose contagion rates rose due to the arrivals of international travelers.
For his part, National Epidemiology Director Francisco Duran warned that this month might report the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Cuba since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country on March 11.
