According to a press release published by the Foreign Ministry, Peñalver Portal, who was serving as Ambassador to the Russian Federation, has a degree in International Political Relations and has held various responsibilities at the MINREX and in the external service.
On Twitter, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez congratulated the official and wished him success in his new tasks.
Peñalver Portal’s appointment occurs at a time of broad activity by the country’s diplomacy, in the midst of its participation in the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly and other international consensus-building organizations.
It is also carried out in a scenario of a tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, with the announcement of several sanctions in recent days.
