The victims were an 87-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman, who were hospitalized several days ago when the infection was confirmed, Health Ministry official Masami Sakoi said.
Now the number of Covid-19 fatalities in Japan has reached three, while an 80-year-old woman died last week in Kanagawa Prefecture, bordering Tokyo.
The two new deaths are recorded while the landing of 443 tourists, mostly elderly people, who were on the ship since February 3 continues this Thursday.
Another 500 passengers are expected to descend from the ship today to check if they contracted the coronavirus and 2,000 people should leave the vessel on Friday.
Covid-19 has already killed more than 2,000 people and infected other 74,000, and could become a chronic disease, Chinese experts state.
