According to estimates broadcast on national radio and television by Deputy Minister of Public Health Ernesto Carrasco, 3,083 people are currently under suspicion of infection.
Likewise, out of a total of 7,268 samples taken, 2,223 were discarded and patients with confirmed recovery remain at three.
On the latter, Carrasco noted, without specifying numbers, that there are many people discharged from hospitals, but still do not count as recovered because they are awaiting the second and final control.
The provinces most affected by the new strain of coronavirus are Guayas (1,396), Pichincha (188), Los Rios (60), Azuay (57), Manabi (50), El Oro (30), Cañar (28), Sucumbios (25), Loja (21), Santo Domingo de las Tsachilas and Chimborazo (15 each), and Bolivar (14).
The remaining patients are in Santa Elena and Morona Santiago (10, respectively), Imbabura (nine), Esmeraldas (seven), Carchi (six), Cotopaxi and Pastaza (five each), Tungurahua (four), Galapagos (four), Zamora Chinchipe (two) and Orellana (one).
