On Twitter, the diplomat described the military US deployment across the Caribbean as an act of war «to goad on highest suffering» and also warned that the White House is seeking to hamper trade between Cuba and Venezuela.

In recent statements, the Venezuelan ambassador to the UN expressed, ‘the genocidal colonial war is explained by analysts by two reasons: to hide the whacking big domestic tragedy and to capitalize on the world’s pain to invade Venezuela without being condemned by humanity. Thus, they cruelly enhance destructive effects of the coronavirus catastrophe.’
He also condemned «the White House´s criminal opportunism,» which, he stressed, endangers the lives of entire peoples with the excuse that the military is going to reduce drug trafficking.
