The Russian president noted that thanks to joint efforts by the two countries, 850,000 refugees and more than 1.3 million domestic displaced people return to Syria and their places of origin.
«We have a lot of work to do, as security has been stepped up in most Syrian territory and the voluntary return of refugees must be promoted,» Putin said.
He added that Russia will participate in the event with a delegation that represents 35 institutions and will take 65 tons of humanitarian aid.
For his part, the Syrian president pointed out that most refugees want to return home after the State creates the appropriate conditions.
I hope the event will conclude with major results, said Al Assad, who described it as just the beginning for the solution of that humanitarian affair.
