Chinese city tests second Covid-19 vaccine dose

Beijing, Nov 16 (Prensa Latina) Chinese city Yiwu has started testing on Monday the second dose of a vaccine developed by company Sinovac to fight Covid-19 to hundreds of individuals, as part of the emergent vaccination program.

CoronaVac vaccine is tested for people with need to travel abroad, it requires a prior reservation and those individuals must present personal data and airfare.

The vaccine costs 200 yuan (US$30) for each dose, plus 28 yuan (almost US$4) for the service.

Yiwu, along with Jiaxing and Shaoxing, are the Zhejiang province cities that began to administer CoronaVac in October and -according to local press- none reported individuals with significant adverse reactions.

Sinovac has yet to define the exact time this vaccine can protect people against the pathology, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

China has 13 vaccines under different stages of clinical trials and four of the most advanced are being tested to workers in foreign service, customs, health and public services.

China also negotiated deals to produce and sell Russia’s Sputnik V and BNT162b2, the latter of which was developed by Germany’s BioNTech in association with US partner Pfizer.

Official figures show that at least 4,746 deaths from pneumonia and 92,760 Covid-19 cases have been reported in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
