The health department of Spain recorded a total of 26,621 deaths from the start of the lethal pandemic, in late January, being one of the most hit countries by the pandemic.
The daily rise of the death toll to 143, the lowest in 53 days, represents an uptick in 0.54 percent compared to Saturday, when 179 deaths were reported in 24 hours (0.68 percent).
The balance also reflects 621 new cases, an increase of 0.36 percent compared to 604 afflicted yesterday, for a global figure of 224,390 patients up to date.
A hopeful figure is that of recoveries, since there are already 136,166 recoveries from Covid-19 since the beginning of the outbreak, 2,214 people more in the last 24 hours.
With a population of 6.7 million inhabitants, the Autonomous Community of Madrid – the disease’s main epicenter – continues being the region most affected by the pathogen, with 64,787 cases and 8,644 deaths.
It is followed by Catalonia (northeast), of some 7.7 million inhabitants, with 52,086 infected and 5, 532 deaths.
Given the positive evolution of data, the government announced on Friday to ease restrictions on the mobility of half the population, with the entry into a new phase of the de-escalation of the confinement imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
