«In response to the actions of the EU, the Russian side made the decision to expand the reciprocal list of representatives of the member states and the institutions of that bloc that are prohibited from entering the territory of Russia,» highlights a statement from the ministry.
The number of people included in Russia’s list is equal to that of the community bloc, the Foreign Ministry noted.
Such restrictions are introduced in accordance with Federal Law No. 114-FZ on the procedure for leaving and entering the Russian Federation, dated August 15th, 1996, the statement clarifies.
As per diplomatic practice, a note from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was sent to the Delegation of the European Union in the country, to inform about this step.
In the event that the EU continues its line of confrontation, we reserve the right to take appropriate measures, Moscow has warned.
The Foreign Ministry recalled that, recently, the European bloc carried took a series of hostile steps towards Russia and its citizens.
