Likewise, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh commended Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs for the historic date in a letter.
Those messages express Vietnam’s PCV, State’s and government’s satisfaction for reaching good relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and for the will to continue cultivating them.
Vietnam and Venezuela established diplomatic ties on September 8, 1989.
The bilateral links gained considerable momentum with the visit of President Hugo Chavez to Vietnam in 2006, and with that one made by the then-PCV General Secretary, Nong Duc Manh, to Caracas the following year.
In regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries, at the United Nations and other international forums, Vietnam has always spoken out for a peaceful solution, in dialogue and with respect for the Constitution, to resolve the situation in Venezuela.
