The International Campaign for the Freedom and Safe-conducts for all asylum seekers in the Mexican diplomatic mission in La Paz involves the Solidarity Committee with the Latin American Peoples, the Working Commission for human rights in Cordoba and the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the National University of Cordoba.
Other participants are the Pro Bolivia France Council, the Association of Argentinean Citizens in France (ACAF), the Wiphala Group, Casa Nuestra America and the Bolivia Solidarity Campaign in the United Kingdom.
The former officials were forced to seek asylum in the Mexican Embassy in La Paz seven months ago, and the de facto government has not issued safe-conducts for them to leave the country, a serious human rights violation, according to the campaign members.
The Bolivian officials who sought asylum are former Ministers Juan Ramon Quintana (Presidency), Javier Zavaleta (Defense), Hugo Moldiz (Interior), Hector Arce (Justice) and Wilma Alanoca (Cultures), as well as former Oruro Governor Victor Hugo Vasquez, and the former director of the Technologies and Information Agency, Nicolas Laguna.
