The galaxy, named AUDFs01, was found out by a team of astronomers led by Dr. Kanak Saha of the Interuniversity Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, in the city of Pune.
AstroSat detected the galaxy’s extreme ultraviolet light and was capable of this deed since the background noise from the detector is much lower than that of the Hubble Space Telescope of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Zee News agency noted.
According to the director of the Inter-university Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Dr. Somak Ray Chaudhury, the discovery will provide an important clue to how the dark ages of the Universe ended and there was light in it.
India’s first Space Observatory, AstroSat, was launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in September 2015.
