General director of the Railway Company, Najib Fares referred that workers and technicians are carrying out an arduous task amid difficult weather conditions and limited resources due to the US blockade, in addition to the danger of mines and explosives laid by terrorists.
Fares released that the railway line suffered considerable damage because of terrorist attacks and sabotage during the years of occupation by radical groups.
Our challenge is multiplied because we work with old equipment and in the absence of modern tools since the blockade and economic sanctions make us impossible to acquire them, Fares denounced.
He added that this line is vital and constitutes an artery for trade and passenger transport between the economic capital Aleppo and Damascus, and its commissioning will provide significant savings for the public and private sectors.
