The Puerto Rico National Guard explained that 26 people who arrived at the Isla Verde International Airport in the adjacent municipality of Carolina were tested for the novel virus, while next Monday the armed forces will begin the investigation of the truckers at the docks.
Puerto Rican Gov. Wanda Vazquez Garced tried to get U.S. federal authorities to stop flights to Puerto Rico, but was only allowed to concentrate at the Isla Verde airport, diverting those arriving in the southern city of Ponce and Aguadilla (northwest) to this terminal.
The commissioner of the Emergency Management and Disaster Administration Division (Nmead), General Jose Burgos, said that the 26 people were sent home under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.
In the midst of this epidemic crisis, there are 927 Puerto Rican police agents who have had to be sent home in preventive isolation because they have presented symptoms of Covid-19 or because a colleague has had contact with a family member who is positive for the virus.
Several police stations and units in Puerto Rico have had to be closed preventively until they are disinfected to stop the spread of the infection.
