Repatriations prevent Vietnam from curbing Covid-19 cases

Hanoi, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) The repatriation of thousands of nationals prevents Vietnam from curbing Covid-19, but of 369 cases detected since the virus emerged, 347 are completely recovered, totaling 94%.

The commission in charge of containing the pandemic confirmed that the country has been without domestic Covid-19 cases for 84 days. The last 229 cases are Vietnamese who returned from abroad.

Vietnam is one of the few countries that despite reaching more than 300 cases of the virus, no deaths were reported. The 22 still-hospitalized patients are clinically without risk to their lives.

Among the latter, two patients tested negative to the first detection coronavirus test, and five other tested negative to two consecutive tests, so the number of patients with the disease should drop in the coming days, and if it increases, it would be due to the returnees.

The commission indicated more than 13,000 people returned from abroad are quarantined or under medical monitoring.

Last week, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on his compatriots to make every effort to prevent a second wave of Covid-19 and to recover the economy in the shortest possible time.
