Santiago rejected a non-legal (non-binding) proposal presented by the PP in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lower House, seeking to condemn Cuba for alleged detention of political prisoners.
During the debate, Santiago criticized that the right wing has a sectarian vision of the international reality that is so pernicious for Spain’s foreign policy.
In his presentation, Santiago, who also the spokesman for the Izquierda Unida party and the general secretary of Spain’s Communist Party proved, with clear arguments, the serious technical and criteria flaws of the PP proposal.
«They even call the uprising of the Cuban people as a coup d’état against Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship,» he said.
