Protests were more intense than the day before, and President Jair Bolsonaro was called a «murderer of the elderly», as that is the population segment (60 to 80 years old) most at risk from the pathogen.
The reactions of the population are a response to the president’s position regarding the coronavirus crisis.
While the government’s health department announces daily actions and warnings about the spread of the disease in the country, Bolsonaro, on more than one occasion, downplayed the issue.
The pot-banging also condemned the president for attending an act at the National Congress and the Federal Supreme Court without a mask on Sunday, greeting his followers with handshakes and taking photos.
Protests took place in at least 10 neighborhoods of the city of Sao Paulo, and in some of them the protesters played instruments and made projections on buildings. In Santa Cecilia, a photo of the president was projected wearing a protective mask in the wrong way.
During this day, the Chamber of Deputies approved the government’s proposal to decree a state of public calamity in the country for Covid-19, which so far has caused four deaths and 428 confirmed infections, according to the Ministry of Health.
